The unspoken truth about waiting until marriage

Sex should be within the confines of a marriage covenant: Here’s why.

Today’s culture persuades people with hundreds of reasons to just go ahead and have sex outside of marriage.

But as Christians, Watoto Church Pastor Andrew Kimuli urges that we should embrace the fact that sex was created by God in order to be enjoyed only within the confines of marriage.

“Make no mistake to believe in the fake design that says that, ‘first have sex then afterwards, get married,’” he said on Sunday.

According to Pastor Kimuli, various harmful misconceptions about sex have become the new normal because “we have left TVs and cartoons to teach our children about sexuality,” he said.

He urged churches to take up the responsibility of teaching and guiding congregates on sexuality and marriage from the Bible.

Pastor Andrew Kimuli stated that believers should not compromise their sexual purity or values, noting that the consequences of “fake sex” are around us.

God designed sex to bond husband and wife, said Pastor Kimuli.

“That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24.

“In Genesis 2:24, do you realize that the word ‘united’ comes before the word one ‘flesh’. ‘United’ is the covenant, ‘flesh’ is the sex. So before we have sex, we need to be united. Sex that is between husband and wife is not shameful. Sex that is outside God’s design is shameful. That’s why when someone gets married, and their wife becomes pregnant, we rejoice. However, when a young lady gets pregnant without first getting married, it brings shame,” Pr Kimuli said.

Hebrews 13:4, ESV: “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”

In his sermon, Pastor Kimuli stated that scientists discovered that bodies release a hormone called oxytocin during sex. He explained that these hormones create strong bonds that are designed to keep husband and wife together.

Moving on, Pastor Kimuli said God designed sex for pleasure among married couples.

“My son, share your love with your wife alone. Drink from her well of pleasure and from no other.” Proverbs 5:15

“Our culture has gotten it wrong. We always think sex is for the man. But scripture is saying something else. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 explains how sex should be pleasurable for the husband and wife. As married people, have pleasure with your sexuality. Enjoy sex. If you are single, listen, abstain,” he said.

The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife. Do not deprive one another, except by mutual consent and for a time, so you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again, so that Satan will not tempt you through your lack of self-control. (1 Corinthians 7:3 -5)

Another key point mentioned by the Pastor is that God designed sex for procreation.

“Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.” (Malachi 2:15)

“Everything that God does is about His mission. He designed sex to further the mission. when we have children, God expects us to steward those children (like He would) so that as they grow up, they’ll also further the kingdom of God,” he said.
